Hellbrutes (part 2)
| Nurgle Hellbrutes (2 of 3) |
I have a 3rd Hellbrute, another DV push-fit model, but what I really want is an old ForgeWorld Nurgle Dreadnought. We'll see what happens.
Better pictures/ close-ups to follow soon.

Hellbrute WIP
| Nurgle Hellbrute |
Man, oh man! Deep-striking Hellbrutes into the heart of the enemy? That thought just put a big ol' smile on my face. I knew I needed a Hellbrute Mayhem Pack in my army: that meant I needed to get this guy Nurgle'd up + done, and he'd also need 2 friends.
So I bought the new Hellbrute box. Not a bad kit, ('certainly it looked better from behind than the DV version) but not very inspiring. I got distracted by something else, lost interest and so Ol' Smokey here and the Mayhem Pack project were shelved.
Recently, however, I've been bitten by the hobby bug again, and I cleared my workbench of all other diversions to focus on getting the 'Pack completed. I really love daemon engines, but this kit just didn't seem Nurgley enough for me, and it really didn't scream "tortured soul trapped inside a daemon engine against their will" either: something had to be done. I tried playing with adding a plague bearer face over the horned "mouth" opening on the model, and I liked the personality it instantly gave the kit, but the scale was all wrong. Then it hit me; Plague Toads! I got out the green stuff I started globbing it on, and I have to say, for the first time in a long time, I am really, really excited about this hobby again!
I'm committing to getting at least 2 of the 3 'Brutes done by the end of August. I'll post more pictures as this progresses.

Forgefiend (part 01)
Here is a WIP shot of my Nurgle Forgefiend.
Most of the converting and green stuff is done, I just have to magnetize the weapon options and attach the hooves. The base needs a little more work/ rubble too, but nearly there!
As usual; I apologize for the poor quality of the photo (camera/photographer is crap).
This guy has been clogging up my hobby bench for a while, so the thread on the SMCA boards was perfect motivation to push this project to the finish line.

Plague Bearers for Plague Bearers
This is a WIP shot of some of my Nurgle Daemons.
I started working on this guy ages ago, he's based on a BloodLetter of Khorn. Perfectly balanced too, stands all on his own without a base. I started working on him long before I owned any clay shapers. Now that I've got a few more hours of green stuff work under my belt, I'm looking forward to returning to this project to add some finishing touches to him.
His left arm is from one of his Heresy Miniatures Blight brothers. There's 6 of them standing behind him there (making for a nice 7 total). I can't wait to mix and match bits on these gentlemen with the new plastic Plague Bearers box!
As a side note: I am slowly improving my photo set up. I recently bought a tripod, next I just need upgrade to my lighting situation. The pictures have been at best not-great, and at worst: pretty lousy on this blog in the past, but... I'm working on it ;)

New Daemons?
![]() |
| from the new GW teaser below |
I caught wind of this rumor yesterday; 1st 'dex for 6th is going to be Daemons of Chaos rather than Chaos Space Marines. Nurgle is in both books, so I'm happy either way... but I have been praying for decent, plastic Plague Bearer and Nurgling sculpts for years! We got skunked in the last wave of plastic daemons.
My Daemons
I recently bought 6 Blights from Heresy Miniatures, and over the last few months I've been working on converting a Plague Bearer from a BloodLetter of Khorn. This makes up my 1st squad of 7.
I sculpted a Nurgling aaaages ago (planed on making more), and had been thinking of maybe getting some MaxMini Rotten Puppets to round-out my Nurgling forces (and I still may)... but I'm pretty happy to hear we are getting some new GW sculpts!
Once you factor in the Daemon Princes from my CSM forces, I'm well on my way! Heck, I might even get my Herald back on the wokbench, if the pictures in this new White Dwarf get my mojo working.
But before that, I've taken on 2 GUOs. One of them will be represented by Jon's BBDD that I posted about last time, the second one; I'm converting from a large Fantasy Monster. It's still in very early stages, but I'll be posting pictures of him very soon. I call him "Twiggy".

Rhino II
I recently got my hands on the Forgeworld Masterclass book I've been coveting for ages, and it got me all fired-up to do some tank conversions/ weathering. Unfortunately, the closest thing I've got to any Tanks on my workbench though are a couple of Rhinos.
This is a pic of Rhino II. Not glued together yet, this is just a dry-fit pic. I wanted to go with the old-style double doors on the front, so I tried my hand at scratch building some. Rivets are GS, but for future projects I think I'll have to find another alternative.
The right/front smokestack is something I've wanted to try ever since I first saw the Battlescape scenery kit from GW. I used a combination of pressmolded GS (using instant mold) and plastic tubing, florist wire and plastic strips.
It's been a bit hit/miss with Instant Mold. I really like that it's re-usable, but sometimes the detail has come out a bit soft. I may have to try Blue Stuff.
**Bonus Hobby Tip**
When you're not using it for molds, Instant mold can be sculpted into a great clam-shell to store that sticky yellow component of your GS.

Daemon Princes (part 5)
"C'mere...Gimme a kiss!"
Here's a look at the head-swap I did on my Finecast Daemon Prince of Nurgle. I call him Ol' Maggy. Head generously donated by Mike from The Santa Cruz Warhammer Barter Bucket.
I realize these aren't the greatest pictures, but you can kinda see where I've tried to continue the vertebrae down his long maggoty neck.
Still lots of gooey texture to add to the belly and arm-pits, but getting closer and closer to "done".
More to come!

A shoulder to cry on
I gave the DP's shoulder pad to my Ultraforge model, so as a personal challenge, I wanted to try to emulate it as best I could with GS. Still some touching up to do, but I'm mostly happy with how it's coming along.

Prince in Progress
Thursday I gave a sneak-peek at one of my WIP Daemon Princes. Here is another one. This pic is from a test-fit with the wings. Still a lot of work to do on this guy.
More to come.

1 Step Forward, 2 Steps Back
So, I didn't get my herald sculpted and painted by Christmas as I'd hoped. He fell off the workbench, and snapped off the staff with the 3-eyed nurgling. The fall also damaged and loosened his "good" antler to the point where, it's a complete re-do. I'll be honest; it was kind of a bummer. I knew I wouldn't be able to repair the damage and get him completed by the deadline. For now, the herald has been put on the back burner.
But I haven't been totally idle since then; I've put in some conversion time on my 2 Daemon Princes. Here's a peek at one of them.

Herald of Nurgle (part 3)

I've added the tongue (two Bloodletter tongues glued together w/ some GS to fill out the back) and a little more to the face. Sloooooowly getting there.
Man, I hope Nurgle Heralds get good rules in the next Daemon codex.
Oh! Also, a big thank you to the guys at Santa Cruz Warhammer for the Honor Role mention :)

Herald of Nurgle (part 2)

More baby steps with GS. Filled out the jowls and rolls on his neck, starting to bulk out the nurgling on his hip (might have to name these guys).

Herald of Nurgle
Mabs canceled the Plague Daemon Conversion Contest, over on Papa Nurgle, but it was too late; minds had already conjured images of daemons to be.
This is a project blog of the Daemonic Herald that I was working on for the contest that never was. I'm still trying to get him done by the December 31st deadline.
Here we go!

The base for this conversion is a Vampire Counts Dire Wolf head stuck onto a BloodLetter body. The Nurgling on his hip is based on the head of a Finecast Daemon Prince of Nurgle.

The other Nurgling (on the staff) is based off a Posesed Chaos Space Marine head. The staff is from the Vampire Counts Zombie kit.

LXXXI: the Iron Halo STC Battle Bunker

This is an early WIP shot of a terrain project I've been working on. Basic construction+surfacing is done, and now we're at the fun "gluing on the details" stage. The door pictured here is just a place holder for now (I'm actually using that door for a more 'damaged' terrain piece).
I'm calling it the Iron Halo STC Battle Bunker, and I'm putting my own twist on it, but in the spirit of full disclosure the original idea came from toposolitario.
A full tutorial for this guy with photos and printable templates is in the works too, I just need to get some Legos first, to get some better control over my press-molding. More to come.

LXIX: a Dark Eldar gift to Nurgle

Khymera 2

Khymera 1
If, like me, you've been using Dire Wolves as bitz for Nurgley conversions (or as stand-in for ugly metal models), you'll be happy to see the next wave of Dark Eldar pre-orders. The Khymeras will look lovely as Beasts of Nurgle or Chaos Spawn with just a little GS rotting skin/chaotic tentacles added.
