Raptors

WIP Nurgle Raptor Champion
cough cough
dusty in here, been a long while since I posted anything!

The good news is: I haven't been totally idle!
I've mooooostly been chipping away at my Raptor Squad and Forgefiend...

Also, as much as I hate the look of the back of the Dark Vengance Hellbrute, I got one cheap from ebay to convert-up + be more nurgley + in-line w/ the new kit (just for fun, probably won't deploy him on the table).

BUT I've also been dipping my toes into the realm of Terrain (gasp!)
I've got a bunch of great looking Armourcast stuff, and some Battlefield-in-a-Box pieces too to help round out the GW terrain and the few random things I've scratchbuilt.

Of course, this is all hearsay without pictures. I have some nice lights and a little light box thing... but a crap camera. I'm taking this WIP picture with the old camera, but the new set-up should be in place soon. When that happens, the photos will flow like water, I tell you!

Nurgle Biker Lord WIP

Please pardon the blurriness of this pic. I will get some close-up, detail shots + a turn-around when he's ready for paint.

More disease + decay effects to be added.
(also, needs more Nurglings)

I really wanted to go for a daemon-engine vibe for this guy, not just another plague marine on a bike. Bits are pulled from the Possessed box, the Forge Fiend, Chaos Biker, Land Speeder and Raptor kits.

Raptors WIP

I'm still putting the Champ and Melta guy together, and waiting on some more DeathGuard Havok shoulderpads.
More to come!

The Raptor/Warp Talon box is such a great kit!

WIP 40K Nurgle Lord

I'm still working on a custom backpack for him. I love this model, best thing to happen to Nurgle since Forge World.

Daemon Princes (part 5)

"C'mere...Gimme a kiss!"

Here's a look at the head-swap I did on my Finecast Daemon Prince of Nurgle. I call him Ol' Maggy. Head generously donated by Mike from The Santa Cruz Warhammer Barter Bucket.

I realize these aren't the greatest pictures, but you can kinda see where I've tried to continue the vertebrae down his long maggoty neck.

Still lots of gooey texture to add to the belly and arm-pits, but getting closer and closer to "done".
More to come!

A shoulder to cry on

I gave the DP's shoulder pad to my Ultraforge model, so as a personal challenge, I wanted to try to emulate it as best I could with GS. Still some touching up to do, but I'm mostly happy with how it's coming along.

Prince in Progress

Thursday
I gave a sneak-peek at one of my WIP Daemon Princes. Here is another one. This pic is from a test-fit with the wings. Still a lot of work to do on this guy.

More to come.

LXXIII: Baby Steps

Recently, I signed-up for the The Independent Characters forums. I joined up because I was drawn to The ICs Hobby Progress Challenge to kinda force me to log my hobby progress, and also to make a plan + stick to it.

...so this is my before picture, and commitment.

Rhino:

  • Painted, salt weathering, weathering powders
  • 2nd Rhino assembled
Chosen:
  • Primer + 1st colour on all 7
....by the end of the month.

LXX: My First Rhino

Painting still in progress... then I'll be trying-out some weathering powders to make it look properly rusted, and then some mud on/around the tracks. I'm toying with the idea of doing some OSL around the headlights... but I've got a bunch of new techniques to try on this project already... we'll see.

(sorry about the crappy picture)

LXVIII: Converting Helmets

First crack at converting an "Iron Armour" helmet with green stuff. I'd like to get some of those Forgeworld pre-heresy and Death Guard conversion kits some day... so a few of these home-brewed helmets scattered throughout my army will hopefully help them fit-in.

XLIX: Painting at Last

Here's a WIP pic of my first Lords of Decay Plague Marine Squad. 7 PMs, 2 Plasma guns + a Rhino Tank = 226 points.

I still need to add a couple backpacks, and take care of a couple mold lines (that I just noticed); but they're getting there. C+C welcome.

XV: Corrupting the Chaplain

BEFORE

AFTER

That book was a nightmare to remove; I don't know if I was using the wrong kind of tool or what, but it took forever.

I think he fits-in much nicer with the rest of the boys now.

XIII: Let's get Metal!

So, at long last, some of my mail-order bits have arrived. Metal bits on plastic models mean... new glue. Krazy Glue; this is the 3rd type of glue I've purchased since starting this hobby a little over a month ago, and my least favorite of the bunch. Love it or not though, gluing needed doing.

The coffin-lid shields are a little smaller than I was expecting, so I've altered my plans for them a little, but I still like the look of 'em. The havoc shoulder pads are a nice fit too, really helping to make these minis feel more nurgley.

These 2 guys are the furthest along, mostly just a tiny bit of GS touch-up is needed before they can go to the painting stage. I suppose that means it's almost time to buy some Green Stuff and get busy.

X: Flamer Squad

The major components (6 of 7) of my first flamer squad are nearly all assembled now. I'm starting to get more confident with my conversions as time goes on. That's the left arm of my southpaw flamer still drying there on the left. I'm still waiting on a bunch of bits (shoulder pads, backpacks, shields and the upper body of my powerfist champion) to arrive in the mail. This squad is also in need of a rhino-tank to ride around in.

I've picked-up a pin-vice (finally) so I've started drilling-out some barrels and bullet holes. I should have enough work left to do on these guys to keep me busy until my bits arrive. If I run out of stuff to do, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go get me some Green Stuff to play with.
